Web port and QR scanning
Sign-in, QR scanning with the browser camera, investigation QR codes, document upload and an image editor.

ScanFai Web is the clinic scanner web app for DocFai. It scans QR codes and documents in the browser, with no app to install. It can also turn the doctor's phone into the camera for a DocFai video consultation.
ScanFai started as a phone app, but not every phone in a clinic can install apps. Many clinic PCs also have no webcam, which made DocFai's video consultations harder than they needed to be.
Shared or locked-down phones in a clinic cannot always install apps from a store.
Many clinic PCs have no camera, so the patient on a video call could not see the doctor.
Connecting a phone to a call usually means scanning a pairing code while the patient waits.
Medical data passes between phone, browser and server, and must not be readable along the way.
We ported ScanFai to the web with Next.js, on the same DocFai login and backend. Then we added a video mode: the phone joins the doctor's active DocFai call as its camera, through LiveKit, without a pairing code.
QR codes and documents are captured with the browser camera, with nothing to install, on Android, iPhone or a laptop.
Start the camera on the phone and it joins your active DocFai call as a video source, through LiveKit.
The signed-in user is the key, so the phone finds the right call by itself and keeps the screen awake.
Request bodies are encrypted with AES-GCM, the local cache is encrypted, and data refreshes silently every 25 seconds.
The web port and its scanning came first, in April. The video camera mode followed in July, and in August the app got DocFai's look and loads faster on slow networks.

DocFai's navy and blue palette with the Poppins font, and precompressed files served by nginx for slow clinic networks.
ScanFai Web works in any modern browser on a phone or a computer. Scans and uploads land in DocFai exactly as they do from the app, and a doctor without a webcam can still hold a video consultation.
