Native shell and app lock
An Expo app around the LogFai web app, with native sign-in, bottom tabs, a side menu and a Face ID lock.

The LogFai app is a free BankID time clock app for iPhone and Android. Staff clock in and out with one tap, approve with BankID and see their shifts and hours. Employers can follow the day in the same app.
Staff wanted to clock in on their own phone instead of queueing at a shared screen. But a phone is easy to fool. Its clock can be changed, a VPN hides the network, and tracking in the background feels like surveillance.
The time on a phone can be changed in the settings, so it cannot decide when someone started work.
Background location feels like surveillance to staff, and a time clock does not need it.
A regular app needs a new release and a store review for each change, and the review can take days.
Phones get lent out and left lying around. Without a lock, anyone could open the app and stamp.
We built a native app for iPhone and Android with React Native and Expo. It wraps the LogFai web app in a secure shell, so new features reach people without a store update. Sign-in, BankID, location and the app lock run natively on the phone.
The app only sends the tap. The server sets the time and decides if the stamp counts.
The app reads the location once, at the stamp, and only while it is open. Background location is blocked.
Screens come from the LogFai web app, so a fix can reach everyone the same day. Sign-in tokens stay in the phone's secure storage.
The app can be locked with Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint. On Android, an employee's stamp is blocked while a VPN is on.
The app grew up next to the web app. The native shell ran on day two, BankID came the day after, and the rest went into what a phone does better and into the store release.

The app opens the BankID app and comes back after approval. Tested end to end with test BankID on Android.
